BALL OVER BRUSH
My first love was football but after having the classic ACL injury, my love for creating art soon took over and now football is the hobby. I still heavily believe I could be No.8 for England though.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
James Williamson is an artist based in Exeter, Devon, whose creative journey has evolved with a deep focus on the landscapes and life of his local surroundings. After years of exploring spontaneous and emotionally-driven abstract work, James has now dedicated himself to capturing the essence of natural beauty. Immersing himself in the local environment, using it as both a source of inspiration and a way to refine his technique. His work is an ongoing exploration of the land he calls home, and he hopes to share that connection with others through his art.
"When creating a painting I’m always looking at how I can make the piece as interesting as possible for the viewer, a moment in time you can escape reality and immerse yourself in."
James’s paintings are characterised by rich textures, dynamic depth, and vibrant color—elements that echo the beauty and complexity of the world around him. Whether it’s the rolling hills, rugged coastlines, or the intimate details of everyday life, each piece invites viewers to experience a deep, emotional connection to the landscape. James’s art is not just about capturing a place, but about immersing the viewer in a moment—where thoughts and emotions blend seamlessly with the natural world.
James aims to document and celebrate the life and beauty around him, while continuing to develop and refine his artistic voice. His work offers more than just a visual escape; it’s an invitation to experience how he see's the world through the lens of creative expression.
"For me Art is about creating spontaneous perfection, a process of being in complete control of the extension of self but lost in the chaos of creation. A constant desire of a flow state so in tune with the rhythm of painting that every thought, emotion and vision that comes to mind is being abstracted effortlessly into art."
