The First of the Flower Series #001 - titled “First Bloom” -
Ahhh the blossoms of spring! New life, new energy, a new year for mother nature. I had the idea while being cooped up in my winter den that when spring started to show signs of life I would paint three still life flower pieces.
I wanted to create a moment where the flowers could bloom forever and not be just a gesture. First Bloom is about the explosion of new life, the vibrancy of nature changing colour and the Sun flooding you with energy for rejuvenation. First Bloom is punchy, its saturated, its joy, its excitement, its the buzz for the year ahead.
I loved creating this painting because it brought me so much joy and passion to be back in the studio in the sunshine.
James Williamson is an artist based in Exeter, Devon, whose creative journey has evolved with a deep focus on the landscapes and life of his local surroundings. After years of exploring spontaneous and emotionally-driven abstract work, James has now dedicated himself to capturing the essence of Devon’s natural beauty. For the next few months, he is immersing himself in the local environment, using it as both a source of inspiration and a way to refine his technique. His work is an ongoing exploration of the land he calls home, and he hopes to share that connection with others through his art.
